my grandfather is the one I respect most and love deeply. He is a retired educator who has a lifelong passion for education. Even now, at the ripe old age of 72, he still writes some educational historical records on my hometown voluntarily.

He is an average old man at first sight. He has an unbelievably good temper and is very approachable for everyone. Unlike most adults who never take children’s words seriously, he has a attentive ear and caring heart to listen to and answers children’s questions. Kids and students always find it comfortable to be around him. Also, He is good at reading students’ minds and guiding them in a way the student would love to follow. He once said to me that, ‘He who respects others is constantly respected’. I can’t agree more about that and I think this is the very secret why he is so respected and loved.

But the main reason my grandfather has my infinite respect is his strong will. Last summer, he was diagnosed with a lung tumor.The terrible news threw us all in shock. We were all worried to death about his physical and mental conditions. To our surprise, it’s he who comforted us with his wrinkled smiles. At first, we thought he was just putting on a brave face to make us feel better. But as time passed, his optimism shone during all the treatments even when we wept for the pains he suffered. He was also the first one who had the courage to inquire the results after each examination.

Bit by bit, I was moved by his perseverance and optimism. Fortunately, the tumor was proved benign and He beat the disease after a successful operation. My grandfather is definitely the kind of person I want to be. Grandpa, I love you.

I would like to describe an old person I respect. He is an old experienced traditional Chinese doctor. The first time I met with him was about 3 years ago. I had my right foot twisted carelessly when I went downstairs. It tortured me for a couple of days and I thought I can’t just leave it like this without any treatment, so my mum decide to bring me to take Chinese medical treatment. We first inquired some friends about what kind of treatment should I receive and which doctor is better. Then after listening to others’ suggestions, we found him. He worked in a small clinic. As soon as we entered the clinic, we smelt the herbs. Seeing us coming in, he stood up and welcomed us. He was of medium height with grey hair. Smiling, he helped us to be seated(就坐 take a seat)and asked me about my foot pain. At the same time, he touched my ankle, asking if it was aching. After diagnosis(诊断), he told me that it was not really serious. He would help me rectify(纠正correct)the hurt position back to the right place and apply a piece of medical ointment there. I was a little nervous when he told me his cure, but his practiced skills made me relax. He skillfully rectify my ankle position and alleviated my pain all the sudden. Then he carefully pasted the ointment on my ankle and told me about how to take care of it by myself. After I received his treatment and followed his later on instruction, my feet and ankle is getting less painful and only after 2 weeks, they were totally healed. Then I went to his clinic again to thank him for his marvelous medical skills and magic therapy. You know, an skillful and experience Chinese medicine doctor is always respected and valued. And for me, he eased my pain so quickly and cure me eventually, I believe he has both the virtue and skills, that why I respect him so much.

Among all the family members, I admire my grandfather the most. my grandfather used to be a fisherman in the East Coast of China. Because he did not want my grandmother to live a life at sea with him, he gave up fishing for a living. My grandfather sometimes tells me about his previous career of fishing. He said that what impressed him most was the sunrise and sunset by the water, a bucket full of jumping fishes and the immerse space out there in the ocean. As well, he tells many truths of life. I feel his courage, passion and even pride for his previous career as a fisherman. He makes me realize that we should face the difficulties and challenges in a positive attitude. Whenever I face some problems, he is the first one I would like to talk with because he always can provide some useful and practical suggestions and advice. What is more, my grandfather is such a guy who has a good temper. Even if I made some mistakes, he would never blame me for anything I did, on the contrary, he would point out my mistakes pleasantly but sternly.
