Rapid urbanization is the process of people migrating from rural areas to urban regions, which increases the scale of the cities to which they move. As far as I am concerned, this tendency goes with many risks, and correspondent resolutions will be also presented as below. There are many major problems caused by rural-to-city migration, including the decline of living conditions, infrastructure challenges, social crimes, broken family structure, and economic recession in rural places. Firstly, a higher-level population density of urban areas causes overcrowding-related social issues, for example, individuals living in small spaces with several other people, the rise of slums, and rapidly rising rents for housing. Secondly, the movement of people from rural areas to urban areas also puts a strain on a city's infrastructure. Currently, there is an argument that non-academic courses like music and sports should be cut off, because they have no serviceable values. Personally, this contention is indefensible and overpasses the positive impacts of these courses on the growth of children. My reasons will be explored as below. Admittedly, in school education, academic courses should be given the priority over music and sports, because the former is practically more helpful and beneficial. For example, by studying math, a typical academic subject, a child can acquire basic skills of coping with numbers and calculation, as well as cultivate abilities of critical thinking and reasoning. That is to say, math plays a role of doorway for children’s further education, future career and daily life.
