摘要:12月3日雅思G类写作考试大作文考的是教育类的话题:年轻人自由选择将来的事业还是应该由家长或老师替他们做决定,来看小站老师的范文!

Task:It is sometimes side that young people are free to choose their future career. However, some people may also say it should be their parents or teachers to make the choice for them.

Discuss both views and show your own opinion.

Sample answer:

Dear Sir or Madam,

When choosing a job, in order to live up to parents’ or tutors’ expectation, a number of young people would follow parents’ or tutors’ advice rather than take up a job they really have a passion for. In my point of view, it is not a wise choice and it should be the young people’s own decision.

Many people may argue that compared with the green graduates, their parents and teachers have more social experience and better personal resources to draw on, both of which are essential considerations when choosing a career. Provided that young people who just enter the workforce take advice from their parents or mentor and opt for a job chosen by them, they are more likely to have an advantage over other job hunters in terms of experience and resources. Consequently, they have more chances to get promoted and enjoy decent salary.

This is true in some extent and may be effective in the short term. However in the long run, instead of experience and resources, all of which can be accumulated over time, what is more closely related to career success is ability and interest and both of them are more dependent on young people themselves. So if young people desire to gain achievement on their career path, they probably have to reconsider the choices offered by other people and figure out which kind of job match their skills and interests.

All in all, I strong believe that to achieve career goals, the youth have to base their career choices on their own traits and only in this way, can they truly feel a sense of pride and belonging from their work.
