Part 1
Do you live in a house or an apartment?
Can you describe your living room?
How much time do you spend in the living room?
What do you usually do in your living room?
Who do you spend time with in the living room?
Is your living room important to you? Why?
What is your favourite item in the living room?
Would you like to change anything about your living room?
Can you describe your living room?):
“Well, I live in a moderately-sized apartment, and the living room is the heart of it. It’s quite bright and airy because it has a large south-facing window. The walls are painted a soft beige, which makes it feel warm and cozy. The centerpiece is a comfortable light grey sofa, facing a wall-mounted TV. Next to the sofa, there’s a floor lamp that casts a really gentle light in the evenings, which is perfect for reading. We also have a few potted plants that add a touch of nature to the space.”
词汇丰富: moderately-sized, bright and airy, south-facing, soft beige, warm and cozy, centerpiece, wall-mounted, casts a gentle light, a touch of nature。
Part 2
Describe a living room that you like (in your home or someone else’s).
You should say:
whose living room it is
where it is
what it looks like
and explain why you like this living room.
(e.g., “I’d like to talk about my best friend’s living room in her countryside cottage.”)
What it looks like (重点部分): 按空间顺序描述。
特色元素: a large window with a view, a record player, a collection of something。
Why you like it (升华部分):
It’s a great place for social gatherings/family time/relaxation.
It holds many happy memories, it reflects the owner’s personality (cosy, creative, organised)。
It always smells like coffee and books, it’s flooded with sunlight, it feels incredibly peaceful。
Part 2
I’m going to describe my grandmother’s living room, which holds a special place in my heart.”
外观描述: “It’s not a large room, but it’s exceptionally cozy. The walls are lined with wooden bookshelves, filled with old novels and family photo albums. There’s a well-worn but incredibly soft armchair by the fireplace, which is her favourite spot. The room is always warm, with the scent of old books and the cinnamon tea she often drinks.”
喜欢的原因: “I love it because it’s a sanctuary of calm. Unlike the modern, minimalist spaces you see nowadays, it feels lived-in and full of stories. Every object has a history. Spending time there with her, listening to stories or reading quietly, is one of my most cherished feelings. It’s more than just a room; it’s a repository of family history and warmth.”
Sofa/couch, armchair, coffee table, side table, entertainment unit/TV stand, bookshelf, cabinet, rug/carpet, curtains/drapes, cushion/pillow, mantelpiece, floor lamp.
氛围: cozy/inviting, warm, cluttered, tidy/neat, minimalist, modern, traditional, homey, vibrant, tranquil/peaceful.
光线: bright, airy, sunny, dimly-lit, well-lit, natural light.
To unwind/relax, to entertain guests, to binge-watch series, to curl up with a book, to gather around the table, to chat/converse, to play board games.
