When I was in senior high school, I won the first-class award in the Olympic Physics Competition of our province and got my school awarded with 1000 yuan. To express my thanks to my physics teacher and classmates who had helped me a lot in preparation for the competition, I decided to invite them to dinner.
There were only about two hundred days before the National College Entrance Examination then, both teachers and students were under great pressures and had to work every minute to its full value(争分夺秒race against time). Even on Saturday, we were required to go to school for individual study.Therefore I arranged a meal in a small restaurant near our school on a Saturday evening so that I could invite enough people and didn’t disturb their study. To my disappointment, the atmosphere (气氛) was a little repressed(压抑的)at first because our teacher was there. It seemed that the teacher sensed we were not at ease(不自在feel uncomfortable)and left soon making the excuse of an emergency.
After he left, we knew it was time to enjoy ourselves with abandon(尽情地，恣意的to the top of our bent) and started laughing and joking. Despite simple decoration, the dishes were really yummy. After a big dinner, a male student suggested that we should play board games together, which got a warm response immediately. I had never played games with so many people before. The situation with the game was a total mess because the onlookers(围观者viewers)kept moving around and disturbing the players’ thoughts. Nevertheless, nobody cared about winning or losing. Instead, everyone was just having fun and venting(宣泄)their stress. After the dinner, the relationships between my classmates became closer. In addition, we were totally dedicated to learning after enough relaxation. I was so glad that the result of my treat went far beyond expectation.
