Talking about a short trip, I shall never forget the time I went to my best friend Ben’s house at the nearby suburb.
It was on the summer vacation of my first year in middle school, and we were in our early teens. Being young and passionate(有激情的), yet dynamic(有活力的) with restless energy, I felt more than excited to pay my first visit out of town. Since I’ve grown up in the city while Ben’s family had close bond with their backwoods relative(乡下亲戚), he offered to show me the planting process.
On one Friday afternoon when they finished their work, Ben’s mom and dad drove us to the house down in the farmlands. Besides me, Ben had also invited two other friends. We chatted and imagined how the next two days would be like. The scenes far away from downtown were completely unacquainted (不熟悉的). We saw cows feeding themselves on the fresh and tender grass; hen flap their wings as they peck the corns; a big black dog lying in the sunset welcomed us by waving its tail.
During the two and a half days’ stay, Ben’s dad took us boys to help his cousin on planting rice. Although it was rather tiring, having to bend down deep into the water and exposing the entire back to the unforgiving sunshine, we three had great fun at Ben’s house.
By the way, Ben’s grandmother cooks really well! Her noodles were so delicious that we ate twice as much as we would at school. We couldn’t control our sense of excitement even on our way back to the city. Our normal routine were so boring compared to that of the farm. As we’ve told Ben, we would love to pay another visit whenever his family had time.
