As I grew up in Shanghai, and it’s a huge city with a lot of outskirts and towns, I’ve done a lot of trips to some famous places. Last year in October, after I finished all the final exams , I had a few days off. So my roommates and I decided to go to someplace a little bit far from the city centre. Since weall had seen much the metropolitan(大都市的)side of the city, we wanted to try natural scenesthis time. We went to the only mountain in Shanghai, Sheshan in SongjiangDistrict.
It is 35 kilometers from the city center, less populated with much more plants and better air. We stayed there for two days. It is an enormous forest park with several smaller parks all in a cluster(成团,together). There are two peaks of the mountains, both less than one hundred meters above the sea level(海拔). It’s not high at all compared to the high-rises(高楼大厦, tall buildings) along the Huangpu River, some of which are at least five times the height of the little mountains. But oddly it was the highest entity(实体,object) in that vast area. Also the biggest Catholic church in China was situated on the mountain. We also went to Shanghai Astronomy Museum and finally reminisced(追忆)about my childhood memories of becoming an astronomer. I don’t dream about being a scientist anymore but seeing those planets and nebula(星云) and actually used the telescope to observe was still captivating(引人入胜的,attractive). I want to go there again mainly because of that museum that evoked(勾起,brought about) my somehow distant childhood.
