I visited Lijiang Old Town last year because one of my from my friends has been there. After she came back from Lijiang, she keeping me how beautiful Lijiang is and recommended me to go there. Ever since then, I set my heart on this charming old town and start to make plans to travel there. Luckily, I got the chance to make my dream come true last year. Lijiang is located in Yu Nan province. As an old town, it has become a UNESCO Heritage Site with a history going back more than 800 years. Among all the historical buildings there, the one which I though was the most attractive was Wangu Pavilion. Located on Lion Hill, the wooden Pavilion was reconstructive in 1997 as part of the Lijiang areas’ declarations as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Four pairs of the stone lions sit at the four sides of the pavilion to protect the pavilion and the stone stairs leading to its main entrance. The most brilliant part of the pavilion is that it’s decorated with 2,300 auspicious patterns, representing 23 ethnic groups in Lijiang. One thing fascinating is that as an art form, 9, 999 dragon patterns are sculptured on the wall of the pavilion. To add one more dragon at the caisson ceiling （藻井）to reach 10,000, would give the meaning of 10,000, pronouncing in Chinese as ‘wan’, everlasting or eternal prosperity.
