One of my friends, Leo, is a big fan of detective fiction. Once he recommended a detective book(侦探书) to me and lent it to me. I like reading but I seldom read detective books. After I read the book Leo had lent me, I became interested in this kind of book. The name of the book is After School which was written by a Japanese writer – Keigo. It once won the Edogawa Rampo Award in 1985. It is one of the most important awards in Japanese Literature history. Those selected works are all excellent and reflect Japanese social atmosphere to some extent. The stories of this book focus on logical deduction(逻辑推理), so it can be classified as murder mystery. The murders in this book usually happened in a closed room or an isolated island. I liked the feeling when I read this book that I could guess who the murderer was and I could always find something that made me surprise in the stories. I appreciate this book not only because of the interesting plot but also because of the spirit of the writer. He was clever that he knew how to create his own writing style by learning from others’ strong points and closing the gap. Furthermore, I cherish(珍惜) the experience of borrowing books from Leo since it shows our friendship.
