选项分析：

(A)exhibit, which thereby activates

【错误】 修饰成分： 定语从句“which thereby activates the animated functions of the piece”语法上只能修饰“exhibit”，然而这个从句中的“piece”指的同样是“exhibit”，于是这个定语从句的含义是“展品激发了展品的动画功能”，表意不合理。由此可见，“activates the animated functions”的逻辑主语并不应是“exhibit”而应该是“visitors”。
