在2016年北美十月真题的社会学篇章David Rotman的“How Technology is Destroying Jobs”中有个句子：

MIT business scholars Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee have argued that impressive advances in computer technology—from improved industrial robotics to automated translation services—are largely behind the sluggish employment growth of the last 10 to 15 years.

又如可汗阅读文学类篇章Nathaniel Hawthorne的The House of the Seven Gables中有如下句子：

He was as yet invisible; the sluggishness on Colonel Pyncheon's part became still more unaccountable, when the second dignitary of the province made his appearance, and found no more ceremonious a reception.

另外，在北美六月的Essay考试篇章Raise The Minimum Wage中也出现过：

But in California, as in most of the United States, growth has been sluggish.

第一和第三句都和经济有关，可见该词在形容经济发展缓慢时是个常用高频好词。意为缓慢的。

第二句形容人的行动迟缓，懒散。意为行动迟缓的，懒散的。

该词在柯林斯词典中的英文解释如下：

You can describe something as sluggish if it moves, works, or reacts much slower than you would like or is normal.
