新SAT词汇题怎么考?

2016年新SAT改革将会让SAT 考试更加实用化，与高中生学习更相关。新SAT考试阅读部分舍弃了原先的句子填空题型，句子填充题型需要模糊的词汇知识，它们会基于只有一句话的上下文考你很难的词汇。而新SAT 完全不考这种题型了，同学们也不必去死记硬背那些模糊的词汇了。

此外，还有少量的词汇问题存在于长文章的文本中。根据College Board 公布的文件，新SAT 考的词汇题“既不是高度模糊的，也不会只有一个意义”。

所以新SAT 会考什么类型的词呢?

有多重含义的词，比如 “intense” ，而不是生僻词，类似于 “exculpate” 或者 “obsequious” 。请看下面的例子：

正如你从这个例子中可以看到的，背诵单词 “intense” 的意思并不能帮助你解题，因为任何定义在不同的文本中都可以表达 “intense” 的意思。但是通过看这句话： "The coming decades will likely seemore intense clustering of jobs, innovation, and productivity" ，你可以发现只有选项 B “concentrated” 在文本中才是说得通的。

换言之，上下文中的线索比死板地知道这个词的意思更重要。

新SAT词汇该如何备考?

虽然词汇题目前只占20%的比重，并不意味着你应该停止准备词汇部分。对中等难度的多义词的记忆对你在新SAT 中取得好成绩是至关重要的。下面，小编将着重于向同学们推荐两个策略：学什么单词，以及如何练习在文本中理解单词的意思。

学什么单词?

因为SAT 变得越来越像ACT，考文本中中等难度的的词汇，我们建议大家学习ACT 词汇，而不是背旧 SAT 的词汇表。这将最大化利用你的学习时间，避免你浪费时间记忆一些根本用不上的词汇。

你要着重记忆中等难度的、有多重含义的词汇，例如下面的这些：

analyze: examine in detail, typically for purposes of explanation and interpretation(analysis, analytical)

compose:

write or create

constitute, make up (composition, composed of)

correlate: have a mutual relationship or connection (corollary, correlated)

critical:

expressing adverse or disapproving comments or judgments

expressing or involving an analysis of the merits and faults of a work of literature, music, or art

involving the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgement

(of a situation or problem) having the potential to become disastrous; at a point of crisis

determine:

cause (something) to occur in a particular way; be the decisive factor in

ascertain or establish exactly, typically as a result of research or calculation

differentiate:

recognize or ascertain what makes (someone or something) different

(differentiate between) identify differences between (two or more things or people)

make (someone or something) appear different or distinct

make or become different in the process of growth or development

engage:

occupy, attract, or involve (someone's interest or attention)

(engage someone in) cause someone to become involved in (a conversation or discussion)

(engage in) participate or become involved in

emerge: become apparent, important, or prominent
