2.Why do young people tend to waste money?

The young, unlike the old, are more likely to waste large sums of money on unnecessary commodities due to the following reasons. One is the “keeping up with the Joneses” complex and the disorienting peer pressure. When youngsters go on a shopping spree with their friends, they will purchase luxury goods such as clothes and accessories of prohibitively high prices and go to restaurants whose bill for dinner is exorbitant. 4.Do schools in China teach anything about financial management?

In the primary, secondary and high schools of China, financial management will not be given as an individual subject in class because the precious time should all be dedicated to the test disciplines such as Chinese, English and Math. But after students enter college, economy and trade majors will be taught about financial management. Professors will tell them that people with well-managed share portfolios have done better than individuals who buy stocks and shares privately. Also, if graduates want to live not just a little bit above the breadline, they should have other sources of income apart from job, just as Benjamin accumulated much of his wealth through real estate investment.

5.What is it necessary to teach teenagers to manage money?

It is indispensable to let adolescents know the importance of money management. If the education is appropriate and effective, the young will grow up as adults with self-discipline and earning power. It is a commonplace and worrying phenomenon that many young people are rolling in it at the start of every month but are broke at the end each month because they are not taught to plan ahead and buy more cost-effectively. More importantly, the earlier concept of money management will give the youth more motivation to work harder to make their ends meet instead of relying on their parents for a lifetime.

6.How do parents give pocket money in your country?

There are mainly two ways for Chinese parents to offer pin money to their children. One more common means is that a fixed sum of money will be given on a regular base. Kids will have to tighten their belt when things are a bit tight towards the end of every month. Another manner is that when the kids fall short of money, they will go to their parents who will then provide financial support on the condition that they know exactly where the money goes and what the children currently need.
