• Describe a piece of good news you heard from TV or the internet.

You should say

What the news was about?

When you got this news?

Where you got this news from?

And explain why you think it was a good piece of news.

Sample answer:

Lately, I found a really exciting news that with the Chinese passport and visa, you can go to 15 countries freely and Chinese government has already facilitated the procedure of visa applying for over 90 countries which benefits both overseas worker and traveler to a large extend. Actually, I didn’t find this new in a prompt way but gradually. Cuz I always heard the news of the updated Chinese passport and its benefits. But I never know that its function has already be extended to that many countries. By the end of last year, I read a news which is released by the central government which I mentioned above, I was so encouraged and happy about it. Then everybody started to share and talk about this news too. The funny part is that, the news is definitely a breaking news but a result of a long process, but everybody seemed to be shocked and amazed by it. The reason why I think it was a good news is because that we Chinese people have been suffered for years by the redundant and sluggish procedure of the visa application, which has already affected the convenience and mood of everyone’s cross-border travelling to a large extend. Well, you may still ask any random Chinese people about the time we were still very much isolated, I think it must be really a painful and headache for each one. But now, we can tell the world that we are no longer suffered from this issue and if we want to make a trip to certain countries, we just need to follow some basic procedure and we may pack ourselves and go. How cheerful and exciting news it is.

• How do people in your country get news?

There are many ways to get news in China, for example, TV, the internet, radio program, newspaper and even from people’s mouth. But I think among which, the internet and cell phone are the major containers of news nowadays. Because of the widespread of mini-blog the mighty chatting tool “Wechat”, only a handful of clicks and finger touches will you be able to receive the latest news in a flicker of time.

•Do you think children should start watching news from a young age?

I don’t think it’s good for young kids to watching any news from this crazy world. From the very pedagogic concept, it’s better to let the kids grow up and think freely when they were young. This manner will help them to mold a high sense of imagination and creativity. In the contrary, if there are a lot of worldly news infused into their little head, they will be somehow affected and the way of thinking will be changed. Cuz we have no right to see that the things we grown-ups believe is right the thing the nascent and pure kids believe is wrong. In most of the cases, the thing that happened in our worlds is combined with a lot of set up and rigid thoughts that are not friendly to the characters and personality building of a kid. For the sake of mold a complete and sound personality of kids, we must maximized our efforts to protect them from being influenced from the dark sited of the world we live in and the worldly concepts.

• What kinds of news do Chinese like?

I think the Chinese people are fond of the political news, say the most famous and well-known news channel the “CCTV 1”, the political news made up for a large portion of all types of news. The research shows a normal Chinese family will spend at least 200 hours watching the CCTV1 news a year. And 40 percent of these news are political news. So it’s obvious that Chinese people like political news the most.
