事物类热点题,新题(part 2&3)

• Describe a meal you invited others to your home or restaurant

You should say

Who you invited?

Where and when you ate this meal.

What you ate

And explain why you invited the person to have a meal.

Sample answer:

Well I rarely invite any friends to my home but I do have invited a lot of friends for meal in the restaurant. I still remember that it’s was my 20’s birthday, I invite all my friends to dinner in a fancy restaurant. You know it’s my very first time to introduce my friends to friends, I gotta a kinda wide range of friends, say childhood mates, classmates, neighbors and tennis mates. I was really excited before the birthday dinner party cuz some of them know each other before, but many of them don’t. So when everybody arrived there was a flicker of awkward silence, but since they were basically at the same age, so it doesn’t take a long time for the ice-breaking phase. We were in a buffet restaurant so everybody just grab whatever they want and the atmosphere was pretty casual and cozy. I didn’t eat something special but simply just chatting with all of them. I think there’s nothing more cheerful than invite all of your own circle of trust together and get them to know each other. Cuz if you have different kind of friends, each time you wanna hang out with them, you gotta do it separately. But once they befriended with each other, you can hang out with a bigger group of friends at one time. And the most interesting thing to see in this party was I realized that some of them already know each other well and were even good friends before I know them. Well, you can imagine how excited we were.

• Is it expensive to eat outside?

I think it’s definitely more expensive to eat outside than at home. I think the major reason is that the price here in my city is relatively high than other cities in china, plus we all still on inflation. No matter it’s the price of ingredients or the loan of the restaurant location could be a huge burden for all the owners, that’s why the food price is raised proportionally.

• Do people have the same food on festivals as usually?

You know, in china we have different kinds of festivals, say in mid-autumn festival we will eat the mood cake and in spring festival, we will have some fancy soup with some dumplings. Not only in China, but also the world as whole will have different foods in their own festivals from my perspectives.

• What is the difference between inviting others to eat at home and in a restaurant?

I think the difference could be the degree of hospitality, if you invite your friends to home, it definitely means you regard this friends as a good friend of yours and want him to know that you value him a lot. But if you invite people to the restaurant, it could be only a business meeting or ice-breaking with others.
